Thanksgiving 2009 in Long Island....

Thanksgiving Day finally arrived - while some senior sisters and Zone Leaders were juggling mashing potatoes and making gravy, my assignment was to pick up all the sisters from Rita to Delap - we stopped by the office for a look at the Christmas tree and for the Sisters to feel the office again after weeks of tracting and teaching. Then over to the Long Island Stake Center to play board and card games.

Anticipating the feast - savor the moment....

The Elders always insist that the Sisters are served first.

A feast fit for the servants of a King.

Listening to each other as we gave thanks after the meal...

The Elders and Sister watching "The Ultimate Gift" - dynamite movie! Many thanks, Pres. and Sister Smith!!!

Elder Moimoi from Fiji helping to dish up the pie and ice cream - he's all for this American tradition of Thanksgiving! (That's Gary Patterson and Sister Hewtone in the back - his wife, Laurie, made the rolls...mmmm! Sister Hewstone and Sister Teichert made all the apple and pumpkin pies.)

Satisfied Elders in their first Thanksgiving away from home on Majuro.

Satisfied Sister chefs!

Ending a wonderful day with a little basketball in the parking lot. Our spirits lifted, we're ready to go back to work!

  2. I'm so glad Kim pointed me to your mission blog! I'll have to live through your experiences in proxy. I hope you're loving the South Pacific!

  4. I wanted to make your apple pie for Thanksgiving because we missed you! Maybe for Christmas. I'm glad the Elders got a taste of it. You sisters did a lot of work to pull that dinner together!!!
